Winter 2024 - Winter on the North Shore Photography Workshop
February 23 - 25, 2024
Grand Marais, MN
Cost of Workshop - $345
Winter on the North Shore of Lake Superior is a photographer's paradise. The cold clean air combined with the shore, frozen waterfalls, and inland trails creates the perfect environment for capturing some great photos.
This workshop takes full advantage of everything that winter has to offer. With the low angle of the sun, we can shoot all day and have fantastic light. During the workshop, we will be capturing sunrises, snowy scenes, frozen waterfalls, and photos along the shore. We will base just outside Grand Marais MN. This is the perfect spot for exploring the North Shore in winter.

Agenda:
Friday:
We will begin with introductions, discuss winter safety and review the agenda. Weather permitting this will be followed by a night shoot. If the sky is clouded over we will do some light painting.

Saturday:
Saturday starts with a sunrise shoot. The location will depend upon the weather and accessibility. After sunrise, we will have breakfast at the Cascade Lodge Restaurant. After breakfast we will head out to photograph some frozen waterfalls.
Lunch will give us a chance to warm up. During lunch we will talk about the morning shoot and answer any questions that were not answered in the field. We will then head out to capture some winter landscape images and finish up capturing the late afternoon sun as it is setting.
After sunset, we will do some night photography. If it is snowing we will capture some snowy night scenes in downtown Grand Marais.
Sunday:
Sunday begins with a sunrise shoot. We will then head back for breakfast.
After breakfast we will have a slide show where everyone can share some of their favorite images from the weekend. We will then begin heading back with a few stops along the way to capture some more winter scenes.

Discover the magic of winter photography.

Location:
There are a number of hotels in and around Grand Marais. Due to keeping the size of the group small, and being in the middle of snow mobile season, we could not get a group rate.
I will be staying at the Cascade Lodge, and we will use that hotel as our base of operations for the weekend.
