Winter Nature Photography
As winter arrives, we assume that nature hibernates, and it is time to give our cameras a rest. Nothing could be further from the truth. Winter is actually a fantastic time to get out and capture some great nature images.
We’ll cover both landscape and wildlife photography. The webinar portion will provide tips for properly exposing snowy scenes for nice white snow, subject selection, locating wildlife, composition techniques, camera settings, and protecting yourself and your equipment when shooting in cold temperatures. Time for questions and answers will be provided. No experience necessary, all camera types are welcome including phone cameras.
After Thursday’s webinar, we will head out to Fort Snelling State Park to practice what you learned during the lecture. With luck, we will be able to photograph deer, turkeys, and some interesting landscapes.

For this class you will need to be familiar with the different focus modes for your camera, and have a lens with a focal length of at least 300mm.
After Thursday’s webinar, we will head over to Hudson WI to photograph Trumpeter Swans, Canadian Geese, and Ducks. Directions and meeeting location will be sent upon registration. A Zoom link for he webinar will be sent to the email used for registration.

Keeping it Simple - Minimalism in Photography
Oftentimes photos are constructed as a set of layers, with each one adding some additional interest to the scene. What happens when we simplify the image? Sometimes, we end up with a photo captures our attention as well as creates emotion.
The first part of the class will consist of a lecture where we will discuss what a minimalist photo is, and how to see and set up minimalist compositions. We will then apply that to landscape, wildlife, and macro photography. Finally, we will conclude with post processing techniques using Adobe Lightroom. After the lecture we will have a field shoot where we look for minimalist compositions.
